Disused Railway Bridge

When the North London Railway extension was taken across Kingsland Road in the 1860s, 650 homes were cleared on the east side of the road. This exacerbated the serious overcrowding in 19th century Shoreditch, an area already squeezed by its industry boom, through which many homes were lost to become factories, warehouses and showrooms.
